The day has come. I have visited the Louvre for the first time. Nothing is more intricate than the rounded ceilings and the masterpieces it beholds. I had the misconception that I would easily be able to photograph the Mona Lisa since I am small. Not true. People are jam packed into that room. No one is paying the slightest attention to any of the other gorgeous paintings, which is a shame. I managed to get some photos of the Mona Lisa, but they are not ideal. I am happy with the things I saw, and the pictures I took, though. The Mona Lisa isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. You probably won’t even get the chance to see it. I suggest going to the Islamic Art section because most of the tourists will be at the Mona Lisa or at the Winged Victory of Samothrace, not downstairs looking at Middle-Eastern stuff. It is much more patterned and geometric than the European artwork. The entrance to the section mostly contains pottery and ancient artifacts, but if you look further, you will find mosaics, carved wood, paintings, and even mummies. My favorite photo of all time is in the Islamic Art section, though I thought the Italian paintings were beyond spectacular.
